About Us

Australian Drug Education & Consultancy

Australian Drug Education & Consultancy, founded in 2014, was formed by three great mates.

With specialist drug and harm reduction knowledge, and counselling and trauma informed care expertise, we wanted to offer the sector something different. To deliver workshops, which are contemporary, bespoke and to your service, that are hands-on, interactive, with ‘real’ conversations.

Our Objectives

Hold a safe, inclusive and culturally secure learning space.

Provide contemporary education and training, to develop and strengthen the skills and practice, of drug and alcohol, mental health, community service, school education, first responders, justice, mining safety and wellbeing workers.

Work in partnership with key stakeholders, to develop and implement harm reduction initiatives, to reduce drug related harms and deaths in our community.

Subject matter expert ‘consultancy’ on drugs and harm reduction.

Our Vision

We hold an unshakeable belief in the resilience of our shared clients, and hold hope that building a workforce, which is trauma aware, compassionate and curious, will cultivate safety, wellbeing, connection and healing in our community.

Acknowledgement

We honour and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, as the rightful Custodians of Country.

We pay respects to Elders past and present, and to their continued care for song lines and the land and waterways on which we work and live.

Meet Our Team

Grace Oh

Director

Passion is an often used term, however in Grace’s case the fit is perfect! Many in the Australian alcohol and drug sector, would attest to her tenacity and calls to action, to prevent overdose deaths, and to develop and implement innovative harm reduction strategies. You will very likely overhear Grace talking about drug checking, safer festivals, ultimate frisbee and labyrinths. Oh, and just maybe, naloxone!

Mark Lowery

Director

Mark was drawn to the drug and alcohol field later in life, bringing over 25 years of arcane knowledge and experience, to his many roles in counselling, therapeutic group work and CEO of Western Australia’s largest Needle and Syringe Exchange Program. Mark feels driven to address the impacts of stigma, trauma and harm reduction, when working with people who use drugs and the broader community. Embracing the challenge, Mark made the shift to workforce development, developing and delivering training and leading peer projects. Mark often speaks of the great mentors who have influenced his career in the alcohol and other drug field. Providing training is in part his way of repaying the debt of gratitude, for the expertise and clinical wisdom which has been generously imparted to him. Mark also loves to talk about how much he loves his dogs and the oxytocin exchange they generate for each other.
